A new Yakiza game called Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will be arriving for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S PS4, PS5, and PC on February 28, 2025. Unlike the recent games in the series, this spin-off is an action-adventure game, not an RPG.
Goro Majima who is a recurring Yakuza character will be the playable character. The story takes place directly after the events of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth.
The synopsis of the game states “Goro Majima, a notorious ex-yakuza suddenly finds himself shipwrecked on a remote island in the Pacific,” and continues “Unable to remember even his own name, he sets sail in search of clues to his lost memories, accompanied by a boy named Noah who saved his life. Before long, they’re caught up in a conflict between cutthroat criminals, modern-day pirates, and other scoundrels over a legendary treasure.”
The game will enable players to upgrade their ship, assemble their own crew, engage in battles with other ships, and explore the sea to discover locations such as Rich Island, Hawaii, and Madlantis.
During the live stream producer of the game, Ryosuke Horii stated “This might look a little bit quirky at first look, but don’t worry, it will contain the hot drama and exhilarating action that’s typical in Yakuza games,” He further continues “There’s still a ton of unannounced information.”
Later in the stream, Ryosuke Horii stated “For the first time, Goro Majima is the sole protagonist in this game,” he continues ”The battle design is very different. It’s fast-paced, and it has a lot of Majima’s uniqueness – that’s what we aimed for.”
