Sea of Remnants was showcased during the State of Play in June 2025. It is being developed by Joker Studio, a developer known for games such as Identity V, and is being published by NetEase Games. It is going to be a free-to-play ocean adventure roleplaying game that is set to release in 2026.
The game puts the player in an interesting position. There are more than 300 characters to engage with as allies, enemies, or even frenemies. Each of these characters will have their distinct, allegiances, and personalities. It gives players the ability to befriend them, go offensive, or even eliminate them. Every decision a player makes will have a major impact. It will be interesting to see how players are going to take it once it gets released.
Sea of Remnants has an interesting premise that puts players in the shoes of puppet-looking sailors. The puppet has lost all of the memory. Players then start their journey while being accompanied by a mysterious girl. The journey takes players across the vast seas, unexplored islands, and a city full of secrets.
On their journey, players will recruit other puppet-type allies, partake in turn-based battles while exploring, and customize their ships. Decisions like fighting against enemies or grabbing opportunities will have a major impact on the world. Â When different factions react to the choice you make, it will change the city resulting in an experience that is different for each player.
Even though land-based combat is turn-based, ship battles are in real-time. It requires players to position themselves and timing plays an important role in combat. A lot of themes regarding the game remain to be seen but it could be good considering other options being Sea of Thieves and Skull and Bones.
