Avowed Has Been Delayed To Start of 2025 to Give Plater Breathing Room during Fall 2024

According to reports, Avowed is going to get delayed, and its release has been transferred to early 2025. Apparently, the game is in “good shape” to make it to the window. However, Microsoft doesn’t want their game in the overcrowded holiday season.

According to the report, the delay of STALKER 2 to November is the major reason that has led to the delay of Avowed. STALKER will be coming to Day One to Xbox Game Pass and it will be Xbox and PC exclusive. Call of Duty Black Ops 6, and Indiana Jones along with Diablo 4’s expansion Vessel of Hatred are also arriving this fall.

The delay makes more sense considering the fact that Microsoft is relying on Game Pass. They are removing games from the crowded season of Fall and are instead betting on releasing in January and February so that players have something to play in these months.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also releasing in November which was revealed during the Microsoft Summer Showcase. The dynamics of last year’s Starfield vs. Baldur’s Gate 3 were different since these games had major differences. Things are different here since both games are not only RPGs but fantasy games as well with some major similarities. The head-on collision of the two RPGs could be a major reason for this decision.

The Delay

Avowed has been in development for a long time. The initial pre-rendered footage of the game was shown with its announcement in the year 2020. It will be a spinoff to Pillars of Eternity that can be played in both first-person and third-person perspectives. With its amazing-looking fantasy atmosphere, it does an amazing job of showing the beautifully rendered world of Pillars universe.

Recently it was revealed that Obsidian started from a clean slate with the combat of Avowed. They are trying to make it better as a response to the criticism that they faced after the initial reveal.

The delay could even give developers time to tweak things that would otherwise be left intact.
