We have news regarding the release date of GTA VI and it is something that people were expecting due to Borderlands release date shift. GTA VI will now be released on May 26, 2026. The original targeted release date for the game was fall 2025.
The statement of Rockstar Games reads “We are very sorry that this is later than you expected,” and further continues “The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and patience as we work to finish the game.” As per Rockstar, the extra time is needed “to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.”
GTA 6 is one of the most anticipated games of all time because every GTA is a big deal as it sets a new bar for video games in general. Grand Theft Auto is coming back and gamers have been waiting for this moment for a long time. It has been more than a decade since the release of the new GTA, the last one being GTA V which was released back in 2013.
The only information and footage that we have for GTA VI is a trailer that was released back in September 2023. So, we have not seen anything from the developers in more than a year. Even this new delay announcement did not show us anything about the game.
All we can do at this point is just expect new footage of the game and yes, wait for the eventual release.
