There is a rumor floating around regarding the release of the long-awaited sequel of Half-Life 2, and the next mainline game in the series, Half-Life 3. As per the reports, the game is “playable end-to-end.” It can even be announced this summer, and the release date for it will be in 2025.
These speculations originated when Tyler McVicker, a content creator known for covering Valve stuff, revealed it during a Q&A. As per McVicker, since the game is playable end to end there is a high chance of its announcement and eventual release date of fall 2025.
Aside from Tyler McVicker’s livestream, there are also other hits regarding the progress that Valve has made on the Half-Life 3. There was a leak regarding the game’s development from Valve concept artist Evgeniy. Later that month another leaker Gabe Follower stated that the new Half-Life would be the “end of Gordon’s adventure,” There were other rumors but I won’t get into details of that. The point is that we might get Half-Life 3 sooner than expected.
Tyler McVicker also stated in the livestream that it won’t be just another VR game such as Half-Life: Alyx which was a great VR game, to be honest. At the end of the day, it is all rumors, so take it with a grain of salt.
