The developer of Metroid Dread, MercurySteam, has announced their new game called Blades of Fire. The game is set to release in May. It is going to be an action-adventure 3D game that will resemble the studio’s other game, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
The game’s mechanic is The Forge system. Players will find scrolls throughout which will enable them to create a new weapon as per their playstyle while considering different aspects. The total number of weapon families is seven and there are 30 distinct Forge Scrolls which give players a lot of combinations.
MercurySteam has also assured that the game will have challenging combat. Players would need to target a specific enemy body part while also attacking with the right type of damage such as bludgeon, slash, and stab. There will be more than 50 types of different enemy types, each having a specific attack type and armor type.
Players will take control of the character called Aran de Lira who is a firstborn child of the King’s Ward. There is a newly crowned evil queen who has cast a spell that is turning metal into stone. Her spawns use weapons made of divine metal that no blade can stand against. On his journey, he is joined by Adso, who is a scholar and has the ability to speak the lost tongue of the divine forgers.
The Official Word
Neil Ralley president of the game’s publisher 505 Games explains it as “MercurySteam’s pedigree for creating unique and beloved games is just one of the many reasons we’re thrilled to partner with them on Blades of Fire,” He further continues “Their gaming system that transforms weapons customization into an outstanding combat experience is astounding, as is their commitment to telling the best story possible. We can’t wait to share it with the world.”
The last game of the studio was Metroid Dread but before that, it was known for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow games. The release date for Blades of Fire is 22 May 2024. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
