Microsoft Increase Prices of Xbox Consoles and Products

Microsoft has announced the rise in Xbox consoles and gear prices amid tariffs and cited “market conditions” as the main factors. Sony has already increased the price of PlayStation 5 a few days earlier before this news. Microsoft will also increase the prices of some of its games that are being developed by its gaming division.

The base Xbox Series S consoles will now cost $379.99 instead of $299.99. The price of the base Xbox Series X console has been increased from $499.99 to $599.99. The digital version of the Xbox Series X will now cost $549.99 instead of $449.99. The price of their controllers and Headsets has also been increased.

Note: This price increase is for the United States only, other regions will have different prices.

The company’s statement reads “We understand that these changes are challenging, and they were made with careful consideration given market conditions and the rising cost of development,”

Even though Microsoft did not mention it, the tariff fiasco had a major impact on the gaming industry in general. Primarily, Xbox consoles are made in China but now the Trump administration has put massive tariffs on the country.

So far Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X has sold 30 million units as per the estimates. It might be not as high as PlayStation 5 but it is a substantial number.

PlayStation and Xbox are not the only ones who have increased prices, Nintendo has also delayed pre-orders which can most likely lead to the price increase.
