There are a lot of reports circulating regarding different topics of Xbox. One of these news was the day one release of the new Call of Duty game.
After some internal debate, the new Call of Duty is getting a day-one release on Xbox Game Pass. After the acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there was a lingering question regarding the release of big titles such as Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass. Now that question has been answered.
It is not a confirmed deal as it is just a Wall Street report from internal sources. If it is true then it is a big shift from what we have been seeing since acquisition. We don’t know if it is the right move as only time will tell.
The Call of Duty model has been built on releasing new games every year and then selling them at full price. This shift smashes that model to pieces. Now they will be losing a chunk of that since players with Game Pass are just going to get it anyway.
The subscription fee from Game Pass will subsidize it so the impact will be evident in the long. And of course, there is the talk of the Game Pass price increase which could come into play after this decision.
Let us know what you think about this decision.
