There was a promise from Microsoft regarding the announcement of a new game at the Xbox Developer Direct event that game turned out to be Ninja Gaiden 4. This new game in the series is being co-developed by Platinum Games and Team Ninja. It will launch in the fall of 2025 and will be available on Xbox, PS5, and PC. It will also be available on day one on Xbox Game Pass.
The Ninja Gaiden franchise started in the 1980s but Xbox saw the new era of the series through Ninja Gaiden in 2004. The same Ninja Gaiden was ported to other consoles and has multiple sequels.
From what we can see in the trailer, it seems like Ninja Gaiden 4 is a continuation of the same storyline that started with the release of Ninja Gaiden in 2004. However, this time around the gameplay is faster so instincts will be key.
A remake of Ninja Gaiden II was also announced along with the Ninja Gaiden 4 and it is known as Ninja Gaiden II Black. Ninja Gaiden II Black is available for purchase so you don’t have to wait for its release date. Other Ninja Gaiden games are also in the works with Dotemu working on a throwback game called Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound.
