While talking to IGN, the CEO of IO Interactive Hakan Abrak stated that their take on the iconic character of James Bond will be different than what we have become accustomed to. It will be a younger James Bond.
The exact words of Hakan Abrak were “James Bond is a different IP. It’s a huge IP. It’s not our IP. It’s actually the first IP that is not our original IP from [the] ground up. But what’s exciting about that project is that we actually got to do an original story. So it’s not a gamification of a movie. It’s a completely [new] beginning and becoming a story, hopefully for a big trilogy out there in the future.”
He also provides more information on their take on James Bond and states “a new Bond, built from ground up for gamers. It’s extremely exciting with all the tradition and all the history there is there … to work on this together with the family of creating a young Bond for gamers; a Bond that the gamers can call their own and grow with” The word family might be reference to the Broccolis, which is a family that has the rights to the character of James Bond.
What to Expect
It is good to see that IO Interactive is working on the original James Bond game. James Bond is the type of character that can turn any scenario into a fun opportunity. It gave the developers the freedom to create their own story that does not rely on source material that much. The actor who plays James Bond’s character has a huge impact on how the character is perceived. It will be interesting to see how the developers handle that aspect in their James Bond game.
As per Hakan Abrak James Bond is “one of the top IPs” It has been a long time since we have gotten a James Bond game which will work to the advantage of IO Interactive’s James Bond game. Hakan Abrak states. “I don’t want to speak too big about it, but I just hope we’ll do a thing that will define James Bond in gaming for years to come,” He further continues “And that is not only one game but that we create a universe for gamers to own for many years to come that we can grow with that next to the Bond in the movies.”
There is no information regarding the game’s release window. So it might be some time before we get to know more of what the game has to offer.
