During an interview with Polish outlet TVGRY, Mike Pondsmith the tabletop RPG designer hinted at a second city in the next Cyberpunk game dubbing it as “Chicago gone wrong”. The project has been given the name Orion.
He explained his role as an advisor on things related to Cyberpunk. He shed light on the meeting he had with the environmental team and he mentioned “There’s another city we visit” but got a hold of himself by stating “I’m not telling you any more than that,” he further emphasized that “Night City’s still there,”
Pondsmith further states “This really does work, and it doesn’t feel like Blade Runner — it feels more like Chicago gone wrong”.
You can just ponder over all the things that Mike Pondsmith said but there is not much deciphering needed. However, the things he says do give us new insight into the sequel of the Cyberpunk 2077 game.
The interview leaves us with questions like the design of Night City in the sequel as well as the fate of the second city and how it will be implemented.
Even though Orion is in early development, CD Projekt Red will have the answers to most the these questions. All we can do is hope for the smooth completion of the project but it will take some time for us to get a glimpse at it, especially when The Witcher 4 is slated to be the studio’s next game.
