The Splinter Cell Movie Has Been Cancelled

The announcement of the Splinter Cell movie generated quite a buzz. A lot of fans were excited about it and many forgot about it but now it has been revealed that the movie has been cancelled. Tom Hardy was supposed to play the main role in the movie.

The movie was announced twelve years ago and producer Basil Iwanyk was supposed to make the movie. Basil Iwanyk reacted and stated that the movie was not going to be made because they could not “get it right”. It seems out of place but it is what it is.

Basil Iwanyk stated “That movie would have been awesome… Just couldn’t get it right, script-wise, budget-wise,” and further continues “But it was going to be great. We had a million different versions of it, but it was going to be hardcore and awesome” Basil Iwanyk also said “That’s one of the ones that got away, which is really sad.”

There should not be much of a surprise since the movie was announced more than a decade ago with no proper update on the status of the movie. Most of the fans who heard about the movie have forgotten about it.

Despite the cancellation of the Splinter Cell movie, the Netflix Splinter Cell animated series is still on the way. To make it even easier for you, the first Splinter Cell is getting a remake which is targeted to release in 2026
