Microsoft is backtracking on its decision regarding the price of The Outer Worlds 2. The game was priced at $79.99, but now it will launch at $69.99, which is in line with the price of games from other developers.
Developed by Obsidian Entertainment, The Outer Worlds 2 was supposed to be the first Xbox title priced at $79.99, which is part of Xbox’s strategy to increase the price of its games. The prices mentioned here are based on the US market, so keep that in mind.
The initial pro-orders until this announcement will be adjusted. The game is set to release on October 29, 2025, and will be released on PC, PS5, alongside Xbox and Game Pass.
Xbox spoke to media outlets by stating, “We’re focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore, and will keep our full-priced holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99 – in line with current market conditions.”.
The price change was confirmed through a social media post, and it was stated that those who pre-ordered at $79.99 will receive $10 refund. Microsoft had announced the price increase, citing market conditions and development costs as the reasons.
If you are interested in buying The Outer Worlds 2, you can do so with less weight in your pocket. At $69.99, Microsoft has now aligned prices with the Market, excluding Nintendo, of course.
