After many years in development and two seasons, the Halo Live Action series has been canceled. The Master Chief’s time in the web series has ended. The series will not be coming back to the streaming service Paramount+ for the third season.
As per reports, the sci-fi series will not continue its run on the Paramount+. However, the developers 343 Industries along with Amblin Television are trying to get the third season made though it will be on another streaming service.
As per the statement of 343 Industries:
“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future. We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”
The Halo Live Action series was initially announced 11 years ago along with the launch of Xbox One in the year 2013. Steven Spielberg was announced as the producer. The original plan for the series was different. It was supposed to be streamed only on the Xbox One console. It was supposed to be a console-exclusive Xbox One Halo Live Action series. However, later on, that plan was scabbed and series spent serval years in the development cycle before the filming finally began. Pablo Schreiber was chosen for the lead role of Master Chief.
Reception of Halo Live Action series
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the series was delayed multiple times. In 2021, the announcement was made that the Halo TV series will be streaming on Paramount+ instead of Show Time. The first season was released, receiving mixed reviews from both fans of the game series and critics. The second season fares better compared to the first of the series.
