The idea of a small boy fighting against gigantic beings is returning with Project Robot. This time around, it’s big robots that players have to climb and destroy. In the video, we can see a boy climbing a giant robot and then self-destructing it. The reason for this deed is the elimination of black goop. The boy then flies on the head of the robot. The game was announced during The Game Awards 2024.
Fumito Ueda, the creator of Shadow of The Colossus and The Last Guardian has a signature style that is evident in the games he makes. So it is good to finally see him and his team make something new rather than sticking to old IPs. Fumito Ueda hasn’t made a new game in quite a while and this announcement shows his commitment to one.
Like The Last Guardian, players get to ride big creatures but this time it is a robot. There is a chance that players will get to form an emotional connection with these robots but that is highly unlucky based on what we can see in the trailer. If Project Robot is another experience like Shadow of The Colossus and The Last Guardian then sign me up.
