It’s been 10 years since the release of Alien: Isolation and now the developers of the game Creative Assembly have announced Alien: Isolation 2. Yes, you heard that right, Alien: Isolation is getting a sequel.
The developers will share more details when they are ready.
Al Hope was the lead on the development of the first game and is now coming back to work on the second. He stated “On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear” and further continues “Today, I’m delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we’re ready.”
No final notes were given regarding the release window, platforms, or title. Since the sequel is still in early progress, it will take some time to have a glimpse of the game or get more information on the game.
The Sequel
It is good news for many fans who have been waiting for a sequel to the game. The sales of the game were low which was not enough to call the game a success for Saga. The director of Creative Assembly, Tim Heaton stated back in 2015, “Alien: Isolation 2 is not out of the question” and further continues “because we’re so proud of it and there’s possibly more to be said. But do we really want to be spending very significant amounts of money, and getting close to break-even or just about in the black? That’s not where Sega wants to be, when we have a brilliant portfolio of other games that do great business.”
The cancellation of the live service game Hyenas and the failure of Total War: Pharaoh had a huge impact on the studio. There are also reports that a Star Wars Total War game is among the three Total War games that are currently in development. It shows that the studio has the caliber and funds to make Aliens: Isolation 2.
