Capcom Will Continue to Support the Release of Physical Games

Physical games have been a hot topic and there are major concerns surrounding it but Capcom is making headlines. Despite many players shifting to digital ownership, there are still a lot of players who prefer physical copies of games. Publishers are now looking for ways to reduce costs and we are seeing that some publishers have completely abandoned physical but Capcom has no plans like that.

During a Q&A the company’s 45th Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders Capcom discussed its plans regarding the physical release of the game. From what we have gathered, it seems like there is too much demand for physical games which is hard to ignore.

During the Q&A the company replied to the question “Given that a significant number of end users demand physical games we currently do not expect to eliminate physical products”

Some of Capcom’s newly announced games such as Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics are going to get physical game release. On the other hand, Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess will only see a digital release. It should be kept in mind that these physical releases will vary for different games.

Capcom and Physical Games

The support of Capcom for the physical games comes after Nintendo announced to do the same. Digital downloads are more convenient compared to physical games. However, gamers have reason to worry about it. The closure of digital stores over the years has resulted in losing access to purchased games. Digital media don’t give you complete ownership of the product as opposed to physical media that remains accessible even when the digital store closes.

Years from now players will have access to physical products like Resident Evil 4 and Elden Ring while digital games like Nobody Wants to Die will might be harder to get. Capcom has a long history of physical games so it is not surprising that they are pledging for continued support of physical games.
