Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time was the last release in the series however, a former developer of the studio for Toys for Bob (Developers of Crash Bandicoot) has made a revelation on social media that the developers were planning to release a Crash Bandicoot 5. However, the studio scrapped the plan to announce it after the project was canceled.
The first Crash Bandicoot game was released in 1996 on the PlayStation as an exclusive. It was supposed to be the rival of Sonic the Hedgehog of Sega and Mario of Nintendo. It became a massive success which solidified its importance.
Over the course of years, different studios were changed with multiple mergers and acquisitions which was the main reason for the long gaps between the games. The news of the cancellation resulted in disappointment for fans of the series.
The first hint regarding Crash Bandicoot 5 was given in the year 2022 after the release of Crash Bandicoot 4. Some jokes were made regarding the announcement of the next Crash Bandicoot in a podcast. Now, it seems like these jokes were based on legit news.
Crash Bandicoot 5 Cancellation
It all turned into a hot topic when Nicholas Kole, shared on social media platforms, regarding the cancellation that stated, the “Project Dragon” game was now dead…
The statement does not match up with Crash Bandicoot so many assumed that Nicholas Kole was talking about Spyro the Dragon. Later on, he clarified by stating “It is not Spyro, but someday folks will hear about the Crash 5 that never was and it’s gonna break hearts.”
As per Nicholas Kole, two different studios were working on two different projects. There is a possibility that Toys for Bob was not even developing Crash Bandicoot 5. It is a likely scenario if you take Crash Bandicoot 4 into consideration.
