Hidetaka Miyazaki, the head of FromSoftware is working on multiple projects. However, none of the projects he is working on are related to Elden Ring.
During an interview with the Japanese gaming outlet Gamewatch, Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed that they are working on various projects from different genres. The studio is quite busy in developing these projects. He also gives hints that the expansion of Elden Ring IP is happening but it won’t necessarily mean that he is working on Elden Ring 2.
Hidetaka Miyazaki stated “At the moment, we are not thinking of developing Elden Ring 2. However, this is not to deny the development of the Elden Ring IP,” he further continues “…FromSoftware is running multiple projects as usual. There are various variations of projects among them, so please look forward to it”.
Hidetaka Miyazaki did not show much about these mysterious upcoming projects but I bet that some of them are going to be big action RPGs. Getting another Sekiro, Dark Souls, or Bloodborne might not be completely out of the question. It would take the developers some time to get working on the next project because they recently wrapped up working on Shadow of the Erdtree expansion.
The statement regarding the expansion of Elden Ring IP is especially interesting. It can also mean that the game is being expanded into animation, film, or a web series. It will bring the franchise to a new audience before the release of the next Elden Ring.
Even though the developers have some games that don’t appeal to mass audiences such as Armored Core, it hasn’t stopped them from making some of the best games out there.
