It’s Official… Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will get Day One Release on Game Pass

It has now been confirmed that Call of Duty Black Ops 6 will be released on day one on the Xbox Game Pass.

The announcement was made along with the release of the new trailer for Call of Duty Black Ops 6 called “The Truth Lies” The trailer shows us real-life world leaders such as George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Saddam Hussein among others as they deliver distorted speeches. As per the reports, Black Ops 6 is going to take place during the Gulf War. The new trailers take us closer to that possibility than ever before. We have already talked about that in detail.

The news should not come as a surprise as Microsoft has already indicated its interest in doing so.

Many are worried about the negative effects of putting games on Game Pass, especially on day one. Microsoft executives have assured that sales can be boosted by putting games on the service. Putting Call of Duty on services like Game Pass can be a bad idea but it will take some time before we see the result of it.

The Release

Every year, a new Call of Duty game usually costs $70 on new generation of consoles. It sells around 25 million copies each year which results in millions of dollars in revenue. Releasing Call of Duty Black Ops 6 on Game Pass this year would be a huge blow to that revenue. It’s not like Call of Duty is going to stop releasing on other platforms so there is still revenue to be generated.

The number of Xbox Game Pass subscribers is not growing fast enough so Microsoft is doing all it can to attract new customers. Putting a Call of Duty game day one on the game pass could help them attract more subscribers. There are even talks of raising Xbox Game Pass Ultimate prices again. It is a major day-one release since the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The release date of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is yet to be announced. It will be released on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on both current and last gen consoles.
