There is a new Marvel game to look forward to: this time, it’s a fighting game called Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. It was announced during the June 2025 State of Play and it will feature different Marvel characters in 4v4 team-based battles. Arc System Works brings a fresh change to Marvel’s fighting game legacy. Characters licensing was a major issue in the decline of Marvel fighting games and that is changing.
The developer Arc System Works is known for games like BlazBlue, Guilty Gear, and Persona fighting games all of which were well received. Dragon Ball FighterZ was a major high point because it captures the game’s anime feeling which makes me hopeful for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.
There will be a wide range of characters in the game resulting in fresh gameplay dynamics. The confirmed characters include Storm, Dr. Doom, Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Ghost Rider, and Star-Lord. The 4v4 format is an ambitious step for the developer as it will be tough to maintain the balance in the game.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is set to release in 2026. It will be interesting to see all the new characters added to the game in the future.
