Naughty Dog Has Been Developing their Next Game Since 2020

During an online panel that has been set to private now, the president of Naughty Dog and game director Neil Druckmann revealed they have been developing their next game since 2020. He goes on to state, that even though SIE Sony Interactive Entertainment does not give him control over any announcement regarding the game, he is still given full control over all other decisions regarding the game.

There are not many details regarding this next game of Naughty Dog. However, the information that is available says that there will be “player freedom” and it is going to be “amazing”.

While talking to a YouTuber, Neil Druckmann said that the game is ambitious. He also added that some of the game’s parts are hard to make. Neil Druckmann said that he has already given in to the idea that it is going to be hard, working on the game. He also said that it is quite stressful for the team working on it.

Despite being stressfulness of the development of the game, Neil Druckmann said that he wants to make the experience light-hearted for both himself and the team.

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Naughty Dog. It saw mass layoffs in 2023 like other developers and publishers. Additionally, the multiplayer game that the studio was working on has been canceled. It was a project that was in the works since The Last of Us Part II was in pre-production. While shifting to full development, the project got too big which resulted in its cancellation.
