No Need for A Dino Crisis, Says Shinji Mikami

To relive the nostalgia many fans request for the reboot, remake, and remaster of fan-favorite classic series which brings us to Dino Crisis. Among all Capcom’s games, Dino Crisis is the most neglected and has not seen a new game in more than 20 years, not even a remaster. Now it seems like we won’t be seeing a new Dino Crisis at least not for a long time if ever, I don’t know.

As per the creator of Dino Crisis Shinji Mikami “The awesomeness of dinosaurs and the stuff you can do with dinosaurs, that’s been kind of really nailed down by Monster Hunter in recent years” He further continues “So even if I were to decide to make a remake or a new version of Dino Crisis, I don’t really feel like there’s a whole lot of space for that kind of game right now, just since Monster Hunter has become such a big game. But yeah, it is surprising.”

Monster Hunter and Dino Crisis

In an interview with Eurogamer, Shinji Mikami did not have an idea how famous the series was and was astonished upon being asked that question. He also states that there is not enough space for the Dino Crisis franchise anymore. Monster Hunter is filling the gaps left behind by Dino Crisis thus eliminating the need for the series to come back.

The first Dino Crisis was released in 1999. It is a survival horror game that focuses on the outbreaks of dinosaurs in small spaces. The last game in the series was Dino Crisis 3 which was released in 2003. There has been no news regarding remaster, remake, or new entry into the series ever since.

The recent reveal of Capcom’s RE Engine, Rex, had people hoping for a new game in the series based on the rumors from 2020. No confirmation has been provided yet, and this new interview dwindles the hope even further.
