During Future Games Show Spring Showcase a new Painkiller game was announced by 3D Realms and Anshar Studios. It is a re-imagination of the fan-favorite fast-paced FPS that players have come to love over the years. It will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 in Fall 2025. The game will also have online co-op support.
Players have to fight against hordes of demons and big monsters in a gothic setting. You are a person who is trapped in Purgatory for defiance against heaven. However, creators have now given you the opportunity for forgiveness. You are one of the champions that has been tasked with stopping the fallen angel Azazel from releasing hell on earth. You will face hordes upon hordes of different demonic beings. Sounds like Doom, right? Based on what we can see in the trailer, that’s exactly how it is.
There are options to dash, jump, and grapple as you navigate through different areas and take down enemies with new as well as classic weapons. There is a decent amount of enemy variety that ranges from hordes of small demons to gigantic monsters.
Based on what we know so far, there are some new things as well. Players will have the choice to use tarot cards which grant them abilities that can be used along with other players for more devastation. Painkiller will have four characters at launch, which are Void, Ink, Sol, and Roch, with each having different abilities and buffs.
