The PlayStation 5 Pro now has release date and price. The console is set to be released on 7 November 2024 for the price of USD 699.99
Mark Cerny, the lead architect of PlayStation 5 revealed the device during a live stream. It was a technical presentation that showed how much the PS5 Pro will improve over the PS5. It will have better raytracing, AI-powered upscaling, more powerful GPU.
This is how Sony describes the Improvement of the PlayStation 5 Pro:
- Upgraded GPU: With PS5 Pro, we are upgrading to a GPU that has 67% more Compute Units than the current PS5 console and 28% faster memory. Overall, this enables up to 45% faster rendering for gameplay, making the experience much smoother.
- Advanced Ray Tracing: We’ve added even more powerful ray tracing that provides more dynamic reflection and refraction of light. This allows the rays to be cast at double, and at times triple, the speeds of the current PS5 console.
- AI-Driven Upscaling: We’re also introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling that uses a machine learning-based technology to provide super sharp image clarity by adding an extraordinary amount of detail.
Different games will be patched through Updates to get the PS5 Pro support. These games will be labeled as “PS5 Pro Enhanced”.
The length of the PS5 Pro is equal to that of the original PS5 while the width is equal to the slim version of the PS5.
Unlike the normal PS5, The PS5 Pro will come with a 2TB SSD instead of 1TB (Slim) and 825 (Original). It will come with a DualSense controller and a copy of Astro’s Playroom, which will be pre-installed. Playstation 5 will come without a disc drive, so you have to buy a disc drive separately. The stand for vertical use will also be sold separately.
This is Apple’s situation and users just have to buy even the essentials separately. This is absurd but that’s how it is.
