A presentation for Ghost of Yōtei showcased the gameplay of the PlayStation 5’s game. Developed by Sucker Punch, the videos show us the combat system, photo mode, and open world of the game.
Players will play as the character of Atsu, who is a female ronin on the hunt for six bandits who murdered her family. On her quest, she gains a reputation for being an onryo, which is an avenging spirit from Japanese folklore.
The game has an open world that a player can approach in the way they see fit. You will have the option to focus on exploration, story, or combat. The events of the game take place on the island of Ezo in the year 1603. Players will also have a wolf companion accompanying them on the quest for vengeance.
Multiple image filters were also showcased, along with the Kurosawa mode, which was originally part of Ghost of Tsushima. Kurosawa is black and white, while Miike mode offers players more gory fights, and Watanabe mode focuses on calm lo-fi beats.
There are also Ghost of Yōtei PS5 accessories being released for the game. It will be the PlayStation’s biggest exclusive of the year, with the other one being Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
