Ghost of Yotei, the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima was announced during the State of Play in September 2024.
Ghost of Yotei has been confirmed as the sequel to the 2020s action-adventure game, Ghost of Tsushima. The game is set to release in 2025. This new game will feature a new protagonist called Atsu and a new storyline. This time around the game takes place at Mount Yotei in Ezo during 1603. It means that the game takes place 300 years after the events of the previous game.
In the blog post of PlayStation, Andrew Goldfarb, the production communication manager said that the developers focused on innovating while still maintaining all that made the original such a good one. His exact words say “We wanted to continue to innovate… we looked beyond Jin Sakai’s story and the island of Tsushima and shifted our focus to the idea of the ‘Ghost,’” It also shows that there is a pinch of new direction for the game thrown in the mix.
Ghost of Yotei will be different compared to the previous game since it won’t be all about samurai clans since players will go through different landscapes that are as beautiful as they are dangerous.
Regarding the changes Andrew Goldfarb adds “Our new setting also gives us the opportunity to introduce new mechanics, gameplay improvements, and even new weapons.”
