The first trailer for CD Projekt‘s The Witcher 4 was unveiled during The Game Awards. Ciri has been selected as the lead protagonist for the new game, which builds upon the single-player RPG The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Ciri will step into the brutal open world of The Witcher.
The trailer shows Ciri on a mission to save a girl from a monster. Her quest gets complicated with the prejudices of villagers towards her which shows us one of The Wither’s them “Monsters come in all forms.”
As per the developer, “the cinematic trailer is pre-rendered in a custom build of Unreal Engine 5 on an unannounced NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPU”. The trailer also shows us Spells used by Witcher and a new chain-hook weapon that players can use to tether their enemies which can then be taken down with the sword.
The game director Sebastian Kalemba stated that it is the beginning of a new saga “We’re kicking off a brand-new Witcher saga, this time with Ciri as the heart of the story. It just felt natural, and we believe that Ciri deserves it.”
Fans can expect that The Witcher 4 will have a dark narrative and will follow Ciri’s journey as she tackles the weight of becoming a true Witcher. Even though the main character is Ciri, the trailer closes off with a hint of Geralt of Rivia’s return in the new game.
