There were a lot of good games during Xbox Games Showcase but Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 stood out due to its unique and beautiful locations. The amazing fight scenes give it a different kind of feeling. The vague definition of stories can keep players intrigued about the backstory.
The reveal trailer shows us a lot about the new world that Sandfall Interactive is creating. It seems like the game takes place in a destroyed civilization that shares some resemblance to real-world monuments. Survivors are living in the constant fear of Paintress which seems to be the main villain.
Every year The Paintress paints a random number which erases every one of that age. Every year a new expedition is sent to slay the Paintress and it is now Expedition 33’s time. The disintegration of people through a number seems similar to Thanos’s finger snap. Each year a new expedition is sent to kill the Paintress and break the cycle of death in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
The world looks good and seems like a paradise gone into ruins. There are flower meadows and foggy forests among other things. It looks like each of these places has some kind of unique boss. All the fights we see in the trailer are different than each other which means that there are quite a bit of verity.
Combat of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
It seems like the combat is turned base or similar to the Final Fantasy Series. We can see the names of multiple allies on one side. There are also instances of attack selection and then the animation of a character going for an attack.
The Attacks themselves look similar to the hack-and-slash type of game and similar to Devil May Cry. It seems like players have the choice of dodging and parrying. There also seems to be a quick time event which might let you do more damage to the enemies.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is set in 2025 and no specific release window has been provided. Hopefully, we will learn more about it soon.
