BioWare has announced the release date of Dragon Age: The Veilguard through a new trailer. Players will be returning to the world of the game known as Thedas. The game will be released on October 31, 2024. It has been 10 years since the release of the last Dragon Age game.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard trailer shows that there is some new lore going on. Till this new trailer fans assumed that Solas would be the main bad guy since Solas went rogue in the last game. The new trailers show that Solas is just a cog in the machine of the real bad guys, the Elven Gods.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard was announced in 2018 but until 2022 few updates were given regarding the game. During its development phase, some senior staff members have left the studio as well. Some of the BioWare veterans were lost due to the layoffs that happened in the past two years as well.
The changes in the video game industry also had an impact on the development of The Veilguard. Bionware faced failure with their MMO RPG game Anthem which is the reason that EA canceled the multiplayer aspects of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. EA is hoping to get the same success with it as EA’s other single-player games.
The game is available for preorder for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The development cycle, departures of major developers, and layoffs had fans concerned about the eventual quality of the game. It arrives at a time when single-player games are getting major success most notably Baldur’s Gate 3. It is inevitable to compare these two games since they share a lot of similarities.
