High on Life, a game created by the creator of Rick & Morty Justin Roiland’s Squanch Games is getting an animated TV series. As per Deadline’s report, JB Smoove will act as a producer through his other Alternate Side Productions.
JB Smoove voiced Gus which is the gun in the game. As reported, there is a good chance that Smoove will come back to voice Gus in the animated series.
A lot of different actors provided voiceovers to the games including Andy Daly, Jennifer Hale, Thomas Middleditch, Jack Black, Tom Kenny, and Susan Sarandon
JB Smoove has this to say about his involvement with the series “They invited me to join them in the gaming universe and now I’m helping them move into the TV world!” He further stated “It’s a case of a game recognizing game! High on Life is wild, weird, and wonderful, and the series is going to be that and more! Get ready to laugh your way through space with some unforgettable characters like myself! We are locked and loaded and ready to go!”
High On Life Was A Success
Originally, High on Life was released in the month of December 2022 for both Xbox and the PC. It was launched on day one on Xbox Game Pass. The game became the biggest launch of 2022 and the biggest third-party launch on Xbox Game Pass until it was overtaken by Palworld in 2024. Since then, the game has been removed from Game Pass.
Roiland left Squanch Games after alleged domestic abuse though these charges were later dismissed. High on Life was released for PS4 and PS5 in the July of 2023. A paid expansion for the game called High on Knife was released in October 2023.
The making of the High on Life Animated TV series makes sense since it has a pretty goofy premise.
