The developer of Yakuza games Ryu Ga Gotoku has a new project in the works, currently known as Project Century. There are not many details available regarding the game but based on what we have seen so far, it seems good. The developers of RGG appear to have their plate full with games such as Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and Virtua Fighter so Project Century is not the only game for the developers.
The game is set in 1915 Japan, but not much is known, and there is not even a proper release date. We will get more details of the game in the upcoming trailer.
Even though we don‘t know much about the game we can still extract some details from the game. It is a real-time combat not turned base which has been the case with the developer’s recent games. We can see the main character fighting against several enemies at once. Players will be able to use crowbars, other weapons, and objects from surrounding such as glass jars and stuff like that. The game is far gorier than the regular Ryu Ga Gotoku games which are usually light-hearted. Not much is known about the story other than the settings.
Ryu Ga Gotoku’s previous game Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth launched in January 2024 and the studio also partnered up with Amazon for a web series. Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble is another game from the developers this year. It will be a busy year for RGG with three upcoming projects and the eventual release of a new Like A Dragon game. Fans of RGG will have more to play which is good news for many.
