During The Game Awards 2024, a new trailer for Borderlands 4 was released. No specific date for the game’s release was provided but the publisher is targeting 2025 for the release date. The synopsis from 2K games reads “Borderlands 4“: “See if you have what it takes to go down in history as a legendary Vault Hunter as you search for secret alien treasure, blasting everything in sight.”
The game is being developed by Gearbox Software and it was originally announced during the Gamescom video game convention. It is the fourth mainline game in the series. The series has sold more than 87 million combined copies.
The studio is calling it the most ambitious Borderlands game to date. It will be the first Borderlands game since Take-Two Interactive has taken control of the developer. The deal got Take-Two Interactive rights to all the Gearbox’s IPs including Borderlands.
Borderlands 4 was part of multiple trailers that were released during The Game Awards 2024.
