UBI Soft announced the statement regarding the release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. After all the delays and switches to multiple spinoffs of Prince of Persia games, UBI Soft finally presented the Remake during Summer Games Fest and UBI Soft Forward.
There are no other details as of now but it was kind of a confirmation that the project is still being worked on. After years of the game’s struggle with the remake, we finally have some sort of confirmation.
Ubisoft Montreal which is the developer of the original Sands of Time is working on this new project once again. Originally the project was given to UBI Soft Pune and Mumbai. The initial reveal faced heavy criticism which was the reason for this studio swap. The shift resulted in the push of launch data from January 2021. The project is being developed based on the groundwork set by the Studios in India.
From a glance, it sounds like a complete mess. It is a Remake of a Remake and not an actual Remake. It sounds kind of strange, but that’s because it is strange. The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is full of questionable
stuff.
All things said and done we still have not seen anything beyond a candle so it could still be a mess. The initial reveal saw a large amount of backlash so UBI went back to basics and the game was delayed indefinably.
At least we now have a release window. The game is set to release sometime in 2026.
