PlayStation has revealed Concord which is the first game from the developers Fire Work Studios. Sony acquired the studio in 2023 and now it is bringing fun and comedic sci-fi 3rd person shooter to the console. The game (Concord) is a 5v5 sci-fi multiplayer shooter that will be coming to the PlayStation 5 and PC in 2024.
Before showing us more of the gameplay, developers are first giving us more information about the game’s world and tone. The Guardian of the Galaxy type gameplay is evident through what we have seen so far.
Different characters who show up in the trailer make up a group of characters that players will be controlling. We will see more characters when the game is released. Each of these characters has special abilities. Players have to capture a device from a person who is trying to escape a worn-out location known as Cater City.
PlayStation gave us the first look at the gameplay after the vignette. There is a wide range of characters in Concord. We got to see a character Hymar who uses a magical bow and arrow, a sniper named Vale, 1-Off who is a Support character, Star Child who uses a shotgun, and Lennox who is a cowboy-style gunslinger. The gameplay reminds me of both OverWatch and Apex Legends. The colors are vibrant and the visuals are bright.
What to Expect?
During the reveal, developers had some interesting things to share. Players got to know what they should expect from the game including the deployable gear used during the gameplay. There is also some information shared regarding crossplay and uneven matchups between different players. Even though there was only gameplay for five characters, there seemed to be more than that as we can see in the trailer.
As per the developers, every week you log in you will get more information about the game. PlayStation 5 and PC will get the beta version before the full release. Concord is planned to be released on August 23, 2024.
