Konami announced Silent Hill F a while ago and is a new mainline game in the franchise after a long while. The game is set in rural Japan 1960s in a new town. The publisher of the game has released a full trailer in a live stream. Motoi Okamoto, in charge of the Silent Hill franchise, stated that the main theme of the game revolves around the concept of “beauty in terror,” The developers are aiming for an experience that has the elements of terror and beauty co-existing in psychological horror elements.
Based on the trailer, Silent Hill F seems to hold true to the concept of beauty in terror. The game looks well even when it is terrifying. It takes place in a town called Ebisugaoka, which is based on a town called Kanayama, Gero in Gifu. The town is mostly made of mountains and forests.
Players will play as the character of a high school student called Shimizu Hinako. She has to solve puzzles and come face-to-face with monsters. Her hometown has been covered by the fog that has turned her hometown into an eerie-looking version of its real one. The setting of the game is perceived by Ryukishi07 who has also written the visual novel called When They Cry.
When They Cry was also adapted into an anime and it was a damn good one. I am an anime fan so this might be my biasness on display.
There is no release date for the game just yet. It will be released on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
