UBI Soft Forward July 2020 had a lot to show and trailers of all the games in the event were amazing. The most intriguing fact of the event was the gameplay footage. This time, UBI Soft did not just show trailers and called it gameplay trailers. The graphics of games were better graphics but they weren’t next-gen. The quality of graphics is understandable as all of the games are cross-gen. UBI Soft Forward July 2020 had only three new AAA titles set to release. There also focus on mobile games to some extent. I will discuss all the AAA games of the event later. Now let’s focus on the presentation of UBI Soft Forward.
Games at UBI Soft Forward July 2020
UBI Soft Forward event had a lot to show in the game but none of the games in the event was a surprise. Everyone knew about the games that would be presented in the event. Far Cry 6 was the only new game and even that was not a secret. There was no announcement regarding Beyond Good and Evil, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods and Monsters. These are the games we already know to be in development.
The one game that many expect each year but never see it being announced is a new Splinter Cell. Fans of the game are expecting it for years but each year they are getting disappointed. 2020 is no different as there was no announcement regarding a Splinter Cell game in UBI Soft Forward July 2020. However, there would be another UBI Soft Forward event so we might see such announcement as UBI Soft that they would bring new things to the next event.

AAA Games and Mobile Game
The games in the event include Watch Dogs: Legion, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, and Far Cry 6. There were only 3 AAA titles in the event. The open beta release of Hyper Scape was an unexpected announcement as players were thinking about the full release of the game on all platforms. Watch Dogs: Legion segment was the best part of the even. It was also the biggest segment of the event and the hype for the game is greater than ever before. There was also a discussion regarding Rainbow Six Siege. The discussion has made it sure that the game is not stopping anytime soon as a live service game.
Hyper Scape was a free-to-play game in the event. It is the only online game of the event for consoles and PC. It is a fast-paced game so it can serve as a direct competitor to Apex Legends. Free-to-play battle royale games earn more than most pay to play games. Hyper Scape is UBI Soft attempt to have the piece of that pie. They can focus all their microtransaction in Hyper Scape so that we don’t have to worry about other games. That’s only a wishful thinking
Mobile games in the event were Might and Magic Era of Chaos, Elite Squad, Brawlhalla. Might and Magic Era of Chaos are already available on mobile devices but Brawlhalla is coming to mobile devices for the first time. Elite Squad was the only game that is releasing for the first time. It was the only mobile game from UBI Soft Forward July 2020 that I am excited about because I haven’t played it yet.
AAA Games in UBI Soft Forward Were Amazing
The AAA games of the UBI Soft Forward July 2020 were amazing. For the first time, we were able to see the actual gameplay of Watch Dogs: Legion and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. For the first time, the two of the UBI Soft’s most promising games of the year were showcasing its caliber. The gameplay of both these games is amazing and it takes them in a different direction compared to their sequels.
Assassin Creed Valhalla doesn’t even seem like an Assassin Creed game anymore. Watch Dogs: Legion offers a unique kind of gameplay mechanics that is trying to make different kinds of playable characters. Far Cry 6 also seems good as the main antagonist is Anton Castillo played by Giancarlo Esposito. He is an amazing actor that is certainly going to give the game an iconic villain like Vaas Montenegro. Many are speculating that the son of Anton Castillo is Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3. We won’t know it until the game releases on February 18, 2021, unless they change the release date. The trailer and premises of Far Cry 6 showcase a good game but only time will tell because the UBI Soft has gotten really messy.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion
The most amazing game in the UBI Soft Forward July 2020 could be Watch Dogs: Legion. I am excited about it more than any other game from the event. It shows a different kind of gameplay mechanics never seen before on such a large scale. State of Decay a Microsoft Exclusive had the recruitment mechanics but the scale of it was small compared to Watch Dogs: Legion. Players can recruit anyone from the street and can play as anyone. All the NPCs that players see around them can become playable characters. Their combat ability and style are different than each other. Gameplay and combat of all characters depend on their profession. Players can even recruit enemies and professional Assassins. A single mission can be played differently through each character. The game has potential unless UBI Soft messes it up.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla seems to be a good game but it is not an Assassin’s Creed game anymore. Gameplay mechanics and combat are different than any other previous Assassin’s Creed game. Two things that link it to the franchise are hidden blade and some aspects of combat. The protagonist is not doing the job of an Assassin but rather lives as Viking. There might other links but we won’t know until we get our hands on it. Games of the franchise lost its link to the series with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. I think developers are not even sure what to do with the story anymore. They just want to continue the franchise regardless of the story. Although the game has lost the link to the series, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla seems good. It is a game that presents new types of gameplay mechanics in Assassin’s Creed series.
UBI Soft Forward July 2020 Event was A Good One
The event was successful in creating hype for all the games. The gameplay footage from the event was real. The style of the event was somewhat similar to the PlayStation 5 Future of Gaming event. All of the games in the event were single-player games. Players don’t have to worry about the greed of UBI Soft. They can’t mess it up and make it into a microtransaction trap like The Division 2. They did release the open beta of Hyper Scape battle royal but it is free-to-play so there is no problem. The single-player nature of all the games the event and the way they were presented is making many hopeful. Let’s just hope that they make the second event as good as the first one with a lot more to reveal.
